What is the Golden Visa? Who is eligible, under what conditions, and in which countries can it be obtained? Teuta Narazan and V. What is the Golden Visa? What advantages does it offer to its holders?
The Golden Visa can be defined as a program that grants residence and citizenship rights through investment to individuals who are not citizens of an EU member state. We can say that following the economic crisis that began in the EU and negatively affected countries such as Spain, Portugal, and Greece, these three nations -along with Malta- became pioneers in launching the Golden Visa program.
The Golden Visa program primarily offers freedom of travel. It allows visa-free access to over 150 countries - not just within the EU. In addition to the potential for earning euro-based rental income from your property investment, it also provides the right to trade and work within EU countries.
The benefits of the Golden Visa also extend to the investor’s spouse, children up to 21 years old (or those still in education), and dependent parents. It offers the opportunity for children to receive education in EU countries, often under more favorable financial conditions than those available to other foreign nationals.
